Massachusetts Rep. He also allegedly stole funds to pay for personal psychic services and misled the Home Builders Association Board about the withdrawals. The Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance began investigating Flanagan’s 2022 campaign mailer, leading to further revelations of deception.
Massachusetts lawmakers are calling for Flanagan to resign, with Governor Maura Healey stating that the allegations cast doubt on his ability to serve constituents. House Speaker Ron Mariano emphasized the need for accountability, while House Minority Leader Brad Jones urged Flanagan to step down immediately. Flanagan, a Democrat, represents several towns on Cape Cod and has a history of public service prior to his election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
Flanagan’s defense attorney mentioned his recent heart surgery and the desire to see his family, but the severity of the allegations has led to widespread calls for his resignation from office due to the breach of public trust and betrayal of his oath of office.
