Grandal brings experience and a strong track record, having been a top catcher with the Dodgers and Brewers before struggling with the White Sox. Despite some defensive shortcomings in recent years, Grandal still possesses power at the plate. The Red Sox were in need of a seasoned player like Grandal to beef up their catching depth following Wong’s injury.
