Indian-origin CEO embroiled in high-profile brothel scandal in Boston – Firstpost

A scandal involving a luxury brothel in Boston has shocked the city, with wealthy clients including businessmen, doctors, lawyers, and public officials paying up to $600 for sexual encounters at high-end apartments in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The brothel ring was busted in November 2023, revealing over 30 alleged clients who paid for sex with Asian women at posh locations.

One of the clients named was Anurag Bajpayee, the Indian-origin CEO of a clean-water startup, who was arrested in a prostitution sting in early 2025. Bajpayee, along with dozens of other men, were named in court documents, with his company defending him and expressing confidence in the justice system resolving the issue favorably.

Cambridge City Councilor Paul Toner and biotech firm CEO Jonathan Lanfear were also among those named in the scandal, facing public backlash and calls for resignation. Despite apologizing for his actions, Toner refused to step down, citing the right to due process.

Protests erupted outside the Cambridge District Court, with anti-sex trafficking groups welcoming the court’s decision to make the hearings public and shame the johns involved. Survivors of sex work expressed frustration at the lack of accountability for buyers and emphasized the importance of addressing the demand for such services.

The scandal has raised concerns about the exploitation of women and the influence of wealth and power in facilitating illicit activities. Authorities continue to investigate the case and hold those involved accountable for their actions.
