Authorities in Georgia and Florida are currently searching for convicted killer Kathan Guzman, who was mistakenly released from a county jail in Georgia. Guzman, in his early 20s, admitted to strangling his girlfriend in August 2022. The jail workers released him without realizing he had been convicted of murder and assault by strangulation, and had been sentenced to life in prison.
There is concern that Guzman may have returned to Osceola County, Florida, where the victim’s family lives. Christina Grayson, the victim’s mother, is fearful for her family’s safety and is taking precautions to stay safe. Osceola County deputies are patrolling her neighborhood while the search for Guzman continues.
Despite the gravity of his crimes, Guzman claimed that his release was the result of a higher power, believing that “God is good.” Authorities are working to locate and apprehend Guzman to ensure the safety of the community.
