In season 7 of The Rookie, Officer John Nolan and the LAPD face new challenges with the return of familiar villains. Nathan Fillion, who plays Nolan, revealed that Bridget Regan will reprise her role as corrupt attorney Monica Stevens, and Matthew Glave will return as Oscar Hutchinson, a charming yet dangerous foe. Both characters have a history of crossing paths with the LAPD, with Monica working with criminals and nearly getting killed, and Oscar assisting the police while serving his own interests.
Monica and Oscar’s paths previously intersected in season 6 when she helped him escape from prison in exchange for information about her own attack. They have remained outside the reach of law enforcement in season 7. Fillion hinted at the upcoming drama as both characters make a significant impact on the storyline.
Mekia Cox, who plays detective Nyla Harper, teased Oscar’s storyline as “fun” and indicated a shift in his role this season. Melissa O’Neil, who portrays training officer Lucy Chen, also hinted at unexpected twists in the plot involving her character and trainee Seth Ridley.
With the return of familiar faces and new threats, The Rookie continues to deliver intense and suspenseful episodes in its seventh season. Viewers can catch the action Tuesday nights on ABC at 9 p.m. ET.
