Public hearings are starting today at Cambridge District Court to reveal the identities of alleged customers of Greater Boston brothels. The court clerk’s office announced show-cause hearings will be held on three consecutive Fridays in March, with the first happening today. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts announced the arrest of three individuals accused of operating a high-end brothel in 2023, with the operators having pleaded guilty to their roles in the operation. The clients of the illicit trade, including elected officials, executives, doctors, and more, have never been publicly identified. However, a Homeland Security investigator filed applications for criminal charges against 28 alleged johns in December. The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled in November that the show-cause hearings would be public, citing concerns about favoritism and bias if held behind closed doors. This ongoing case involves a wide range of individuals and professions, with the public finally getting a glimpse into the identities of those possibly involved in the illicit commercial sex ring.
