Patriots’ Carlton Davis reflects on teachings from Tom Brady, eagerly anticipating partnership with Christian Gonzalez

The New England Patriots recently announced the signing of cornerback Carlton Davis, a player long coveted by executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf. Davis, who previously played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions, signed a three-year, $60 million contract with the Patriots, with $34.5 million guaranteed. Wolf had tried to draft Davis back in 2018 but was unsuccessful until this offseason.

Davis, excited to join the Patriots, highlighted his admiration for fellow cornerback Christian Gonzalez, saying he looked forward to teaming up with him to push each other in practice. Davis had a productive season last year under Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams, recording two interceptions and 11 passes defended. Reflecting on his time with Tom Brady in Tampa, Davis praised Brady’s professionalism and work ethic.

Davis also shared his experience playing at Gillette Stadium during Brady’s return to Foxboro in 2021, noting the vibrant and electric atmosphere. In addition to Davis, the Patriots also introduced new signees Milton Williams, Robert Spillane, and Morgan Moses at a recent press conference.
