41-year old Brieonna Cassell was found trapped inside her wrecked vehicle on the side of a northwest Indiana roadway after being missing for six days. She was discovered by a man named Johnny Martinez, who noticed her vehicle off the roadway while operating equipment nearby. Cassell had fallen asleep behind the wheel on March 5, causing her car to veer off the road and land in a ditch, sustaining two compound fractures in both of her legs. Despite being trapped inside the vehicle and unable to be heard by passing motorists, Cassell was found conscious and able to speak when Martinez discovered her. She was transported to a Chicago hospital and was reported to be in stable condition, but facing a long road to recovery due to the extent of her leg injuries. A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Cassell’s medical expenses, and had already raised $3,460 out of a $15,000 goal as of Wednesday afternoon. Cassell’s mother, Kim Brown, expressed gratitude and shared updates on her daughter’s condition through the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The incident occurred near the Newton County Landfill, roughly 90 miles southeast of Chicago.
