Man accused of forcing his fiancé to search for illegal immigrants before her death

The Baytown, Texas police believe that 31-year-old Ty Vaughn shot his fiancé, 27-year-old Luis Banos, in the head with a rifle and tried to make it look like a suicide. Court records show that Vaughn had searched for the legal consequences of “killing an illegal immigrant” before the incident.

Vaughn called the police on January 14 to report finding his fiancé dead from a gunshot wound, but his story changed during the investigation. Detectives discovered that Banos’ death was a homicide, not a suicide as Vaughn had initially claimed. Vaughn was arrested and charged with murder on March 7, with police suspecting that he had staged the scene to look like a suicide.

Vaughn appeared in court and was given a $500,000 bond. He is an Army veteran who worked at an industrial company in Houston. Despite attempts to contact his defense attorney, there has been no response.

The details surrounding Banos’ death are still under investigation, but Baytown police believe that Vaughn intentionally killed him. The probable cause document indicates that there were signs of tampering at the scene, leading prosecutors to believe that Vaughn staged the incident. The prosecutor, Michael Hanover, stated that there were indications that the scene had been altered, such as blood in a different location than where Banos was found.
