Middlesex DA Marian Ryan announced that 65-year-old Edward Watson of Mattapan has been arrested for the murder of Michelle Miller, a mother of two who went missing in 1992. Miller, a former U.S. Army soldier, was allegedly killed by Watson in a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by her abusive partner, Daniel Innis. Miller’s body was found in a vacant apartment two weeks after her disappearance, with evidence linking Watson to her murder. Innis, who was sentenced to prison for an unrelated charge, died in 2012. DA Ryan commended the Cold Case Homicide Unit for using archived records to uncover details about Miller’s abuse and murder. Miller had intended to obtain a restraining order against Innis the day before her disappearance. Watson has been charged with first-degree murder and the case was investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office Cold Case Unit, Massachusetts State Police, and Cambridge Police Department. This arrest brings closure to a case that remained unsolved for over 30 years, shedding light on the tragic fate of a woman who served her country and loved her children.
