Police say a Florida teenager was killed after being lured on social media

Police in Florida believe that 16-year-old Miranda Corsette was lured through social media by a 35-year-old man named Steven Gress, who, along with his partner Michelle Brandes, beat, killed, and dismembered her. Corsette was reported missing last month in Gulfport, Florida, and investigators are still searching for her body.

Corsette had met with Gress on February 14 and went to his house in St. Petersburg, but returned home that night. She went back to Gress’ house the next day, where she remained until her death. On February 20, a dispute occurred and she was beaten. Between February 20 and February 24, she was killed.

Gress then allegedly put Corsette’s body in a car and drove to another house in Largo, Florida, where she was dismembered. Gress was arrested on March 5 for an unrelated incident where he allegedly pointed a harpoon at Brandes. Brandes turned herself in to police on Saturday morning.

Both Gress and Brandes face first-degree murder charges, with Gress also being charged with Corsette’s kidnapping. It is unclear if they have attorneys at this time. The investigation into Corsette’s death and the search for her body are ongoing.
