Boston Fleet excites sold-out crowd with overtime showdown against Montreal

The Boston Fleet faced off against the Montreal Victoire in a thrilling game at Boston University’s Agganis Arena on Saturday, with a sold-out crowd of 5,968 fans in attendance. Despite playing outside their usual home arena, the Fleet put on a show, ultimately falling 3-2 in overtime to Montreal. The game featured standout performances from Fleet goalie Aerin Frankel and forward Lexie Adzija, who recorded two assists. Montreal captain Marie-Philip Poulin, a former Boston University standout, opened the scoring with a goal early in the game.

Boston fought back, tying the game at 2-2 in the second period with goals from Jamie Lee Rattray and Amanda Pelkey. The score remained deadlocked through the third period, leading to an intense overtime period. Montreal’s Cayla Barnes sealed the victory for the Victoire just 21 seconds into overtime, handing the Fleet a tough loss.

Despite the defeat, Fleet players, including captain Hilary Knight and forward Jillian Dempsey, commended the support of the home crowd and expressed excitement about playing in the city. Head coach Courtney Kessel acknowledged the disappointment of the loss but remained optimistic about future matchups. The Fleet will return to Agganis Arena for another home game on March 26 against the Toronto Sceptres, providing an opportunity to evaluate fan engagement and attendance. Trusting in their resilience, the Fleet will hit the ice again next Saturday for a game against the Ottawa Charge.
