Scottish Highland Bull Escapes into Connecticut’s Rural Hill Country

A Scottish Highland bull has been roaming the rural hills of western Connecticut for over a month, causing quite a stir among local residents. Sporadic sightings have been reported, with the bull recently spotted in New Milford. The animal control officer in Kent, Lee Sohl, mentioned that the bull is scared and difficult to catch, especially in the harsh winter weather.

The bull’s owner, Jo Ann Joray, has been trying to locate and capture the bull with the help of others. Social media posts showing the bull have garnered mixed reactions, from sympathy to humor to comments about its future as steak.

This situation is not uncommon in the area, as other farm animals have been known to escape from their enclosures. The bull’s story has drawn comparisons to Buddy the beefalo, who roamed central Connecticut for months before being caught and relocated to a sanctuary in Florida. Despite the cold temperatures, Scottish Highland cattle are known for their hardiness and ability to survive outdoors year-round. Residents are keeping an eye out for the elusive bull as the search continues.
