Candid Reaction from Boston Celtics Veteran to Increased Boos Following Victory Against Sixers

Al Horford continues to receive a hostile reception from Philadelphia 76ers fans every time he returns to Wells Fargo Center, despite being away from the team for five years. In a recent matchup between the Boston Celtics and the 76ers, the boos were relentless as Boston secured a 124-104 victory. Horford, who came off the bench, contributed 11 points and four rebounds in the win. The 38-year-old Celtics big man expressed that he enjoys the extra vitriol from the fans, stating that “It’s great. It’s fun. I like it.”

After an unsuccessful stint with the 76ers following his departure from the Celtics in 2019, Horford was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2020 before eventually joining the Celtics again via trade. Despite the negative reactions from Philadelphia fans, Horford and the Celtics have been on a successful streak, winning eight of their last nine games. On the other hand, the struggling 76ers have lost eight of their last nine games.

Looking ahead, Horford is relieved to be done with visits to Philadelphia this season, but the Celtics will host the Sixers once more next month at TD Garden. The Celtics forward expressed that the booing from Philadelphia fans shows that they care, and it’s good to be cared for. Boston’s success on the court while the 76ers are struggling seems to indicate that they are moving in different directions.
