Twelve hound and beagle mix dogs are in need of new homes after being rescued from an animal cruelty investigation in South Carolina. The dogs were surrendered in January from an owner with over 50 dogs, many of whom were not receiving adequate care. The MSPCA stepped in to relieve pressure on local shelters by bringing 12 of the dogs to Massachusetts.
The dogs, ranging in age from 1 to 10 years old, arrived in Salem on Tuesday and will be available for adoption once they have completed their quarantine period and received necessary medical attention. The MSPCA’s ongoing adoption event, “Missed Connections,” will feature these dogs in the hopes of finding them new homes.
The organization emphasized that adoptions now will open up space and resources for more dogs in need in the future. Updates on the South Carolina dogs will be posted on social media, and more information can be found on the MSPCA website.
