Ski resorts in New England experience power outages, closures, and lift delays


Several ski resorts in New England experienced disruptions and closures on Tuesday due to high winds during a busy school vacation week. Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine lost power for four hours, resulting in operational delays. Berkshire East in Charlemont, Massachusetts also closed due to power outages and high winds in the area.

Other resorts like Sunday River in Maine, Loon Mountain in New Hampshire, and Jay Peak in Vermont reported lift holds and closures. At Attitash Mountain Resort in New Hampshire, three lifts were placed on wind hold, and the Flying Bear lift remained closed following an incident.

Stratton Mountain in Vermont closed down completely on Monday due to high winds, but was partially reopened on Tuesday with refunds available for lessons. Overall, visitors were advised to expect upper mountain lift holds and challenging conditions at various resorts. Despite the disruptions, officials reminded skiers and riders to stay patient and prepared for the weather challenges in New England.
