Weston High School’s girls swimming team secured their second consecutive Division 2 state championship at the Boston University Fitness and Recreational Center. After finishing as runners-up an impressive 16 times between Division 1 and Division 2 competitions since 1999, Weston finally claimed back-to-back titles. Coach Jim McLaughlin credited his seniors, Olivia Scully-Power, Nola Dickie, and Amy Robson, for their leadership and heart. The team’s depth was evident throughout the event, with junior Kate Krueger shining by contributing to several events. Mystic Valley Charter School also made a strong showing, finishing in second place.
Weston’s victory was sealed with their performance in the final relay events, including the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team’s camaraderie and support for one another were highlighted as key factors in their success. While a dynasty seems to be in the making, Coach McLaughlin remains cautious about predicting another title next season. Maddie Reif from Norwell-South Shore Tech took the top spot in the 1-meter dive competition.
