In the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie takes on the role of Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, opposite Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. The film follows Wilson and his sidekick as they navigate a complex web of alliances and enemies, culminating in a showdown with the villain Red Hulk.
Despite strong performances from Mackie and Ford, the film struggles to break new ground and falls into the familiar formula of previous MCU films. The action sequences, while well-executed, fail to offer anything truly innovative, leaving viewers with a sense of déjà vu.
However, the emotional bond between Mackie’s Wilson and Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah adds depth to the story, highlighting the internal struggles Wilson faces as the new Captain America. As the MCU continues to expand, “Captain America: Brave New World” sets the stage for future films but ultimately fails to deliver a truly memorable experience.
