James Franco recently revealed in an interview with Variety that his longtime friendship with Seth Rogen had come to an end following allegations of sexual misconduct against Franco. Despite Franco expressing his love for Rogen and acknowledging their 20 years of friendship, it seems that Rogen was not particularly affected by the remarks. In a new Esquire profile published on Tuesday, Rogen discussed the public nature of their personal relationship and expressed his lack of surprise at the situation. He also mentioned that he absorbs very little media and was not aware of Franco’s comments until being asked about them in the interview.
Rogen and Franco first rose to fame together on the sitcom “Freaks and Geeks” in the 90s and went on to collaborate on several movies, with their last project being “The Disaster Artist” in 2017. Franco faced allegations of sexual misconduct in 2018, which he denied, leading Rogen to regret his previous statements about continuing to work with Franco. Rogen stated that their personal relationship had changed as a result of the situation but did not definitively confirm if it was over during a recent interview.
It appears that Rogen is focused on supporting those impacted by the allegations rather than feeling sorry for himself. The situation has certainly put a strain on their friendship, with Rogen seemingly distancing himself from Franco in response to the allegations and their aftermath.
