Special Election Called for State House Seat Representing Beverly and Wenham

A special election has been called to fill the vacant 6th Essex seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, previously held by Representative Jerald A. Parisella. The election is set for May 13, with a primary on April 15. Candidates have until March 6 to gather signatures and submit paperwork. Parisella, who declined to start his eighth term, was nominated to serve as an Associate Justice of the District Court by Gov. Maura Healey. He described the nomination as the “American dream come true” and expressed gratitude for his time in public service. In his previous role as a state representative, Parisella served as Chair of the Economic Development and Emerging Technologies Joint Committee. The special election presents an opportunity for new candidates to represent the 6th Essex, which covers Beverly and Wenham’s first precinct. The announcement of the election was welcomed by Secretary of State William Galvin’s office and is expected to attract a pool of potential candidates vying for the open seat.
