In a statement to Us Weekly, The New York Times denied the legal claims made by Justin Baldoni regarding the newspaper’s involvement in Blake Lively’s lawsuit against him. Baldoni had filed a defamation lawsuit against The Times, alleging that they helped spread Lively’s accusations before she formally filed court documents. The newspaper spokesperson refuted these claims, stating that they did not have early access to Lively’s complaint and that amateur internet sleuths were spreading misinformation.
The Times had published an article in December 2024 reporting on Lively’s allegations against Baldoni for sexual harassment while filming the movie “It Ends With Us.” In response, Baldoni filed multiple lawsuits, including one against The Times for $250 million. He later named Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in a separate $400 million lawsuit, accusing the actress of trying to make him the villain in her story to divert attention from her own actions.
Lively denied the allegations and sought a gag order to prevent Baldoni from releasing alleged texts and videos from the film production. In response, Baldoni’s lawyer criticized Lively’s attempt to silence the truth, accusing her of planning a false hit piece in The New York Times. The legal battle between Baldoni and Lively continues to unfold as both parties fight to defend their reputations in the public eye.
