New England experienced its third earthquake of the week on Sunday morning, with a 2.0 magnitude quake striking near York Harbor, Maine. This comes in the wake of a 3.8 magnitude earthquake last Monday that was felt from Nantucket, Massachusetts to Augusta, Maine. The aftershocks have continued, with a 2.0 magnitude aftershock on Wednesday following the initial quake. Fortunately, no major damage was reported following Sunday’s earthquake. The USGS had predicted a 5% chance of at least one aftershock of 3 magnitude or higher within the week. Effects of the quake were felt across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Residents are encouraged to use the USGS Did You Feel It? tool to report their experiences. The region is on edge as earthquakes become more frequent, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure public safety.
