Former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier is currently under investigation for allegedly manipulating his play on the court as part of an illegal sports gambling scheme. The investigation is part of a wider government probe into a gambling ring linked to former Raptors forward Jontay Porter. Rozier’s involvement came to light during a March 2023 game between the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans, where he only played nine minutes before leaving the floor due to a reported injury. Betting activity surrounding Rozier’s performance in that game raised suspicions, prompting a deeper investigation by federal authorities.
While Rozier has not been accused of any crime or wrongdoing, the NBA was made aware of the unusual betting activity and conducted its own investigation, finding no violation of league rules. U.S. Integrity, a gambling firm, issued alerts on only three NBA games over the last two seasons, with two involving Porter and the third involving Rozier. The 30-year-old guard is currently playing for the Miami Heat, averaging 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season.
