Westfield City Hall visitors will face some inconvenience in the coming weeks as the building’s elevator undergoes repairs. The repairs, which began on Dec. 10, are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Superintendent of Buildings Carissa Lissee explained that the repairs are focused on the closing mechanism of the elevator doors and are just the first phase of a larger series of repairs.
During this time, visitors to City Hall will not have access to the elevator, so those with mobility issues may need to plan accordingly. However, stairs are still available for use to access different floors of the building.
Lissee did not provide a specific timeline for the second phase of repairs, stating that they will be scheduled for a later date. She emphasized the importance of these repairs to ensure the safe operation of the elevator in the long term.
City Hall plays a central role in the community, serving as a hub for government services and public meetings. The timing of these repairs may cause some inconvenience to visitors and employees, but ultimately the repairs will improve the functionality and safety of the building’s elevator.
In the meantime, visitors are encouraged to reach out to City Hall staff for assistance if needed. The city appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding during this maintenance period.
