He has also denied reports of being repeatedly intoxicated in his previous role as president of Concerned Veterans for America, pledging not to drink if confirmed.
Despite concerns, Trump indicated that people who know Hegseth well have told him that he does not have a drinking problem. Trump has emphasized his aversion to drinking and stated that he has received positive feedback about Hegseth from senators. The confirmation process for Hegseth may be challenging, but Trump remains firm in his support of him for the defense secretary position.
