The surviving members of iconic grunge band Soundgarden are reuniting with a new lead singer for a charity concert benefiting the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd will perform under the name “Nudedragons” at the sold-out SMooCH concert in Seattle on December 14. Shaina Shepherd will take on lead vocals, replacing the late Chris Cornell.
This reunion marks the first time Nudedragons have performed since 2010, and the first time with Shaina Shepherd as lead vocalist. Other performers at the event include Sebadoh, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill, and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses.
Cornell, known for hit songs like “Black Hole Sun,” died by suicide in 2017, leading to the dissolution of Soundgarden. The band reunited briefly for a tribute show to Cornell in January 2019. The upcoming Nudedragons performance seems to be a one-off event for Soundgarden’s members, making it a special and highly anticipated concert for fans and supporters of the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
