The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was assassinated in Midtown by a gunman who wrote the words “Delay, “Deny,” and “Defend” on the bullets he used in the attack. The gunman opened fire on Thompson as he was walking to an investor conference sponsored by the health insurance giant, leading investigators to theorize that the attacker may have been upset about how UnitedHealthcare handled an insurance claim. The NYPD executed a search warrant at an Upper West Side home where they believe the gunman had visited before the shooting. The shooting was caught on surveillance camera, and images of the suspect were released by the police. The CEO died of his wounds at the hospital, and his wife mentioned that he had received threats before the incident. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information about the gunman’s identity, and anyone with information is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers. As of now, no arrests have been made, and police are continuing their manhunt for the suspect.
