Massachusetts and Boston involved in controversy over migrants

New Hampshire’s incoming Governor, Kelly Ayotte, has criticized Boston’s decision to reaffirm its status as a sanctuary city, questioning the logic behind welcoming more migrants when the state is already dealing with an influx of recently arrived families. Ayotte, who campaigned on preventing the Mass-i-fication of her state, believes Boston’s move is an exercise in futility and an example of insanity. The Boston City Council’s unanimous vote to reaffirm the city’s sanctuary status in anticipation of the second Trump Administration has drawn criticism from Ayotte. She plans to take a different approach in New Hampshire by banning sanctuary policies and giving law enforcement the tools to address the issue. Ayotte is set to replace outgoing Governor Chris Sununu on January 8, 2025. She believes in working together with law enforcement to ensure that the state does not face the same challenges as its southern neighbor.
