Trump selects Florida sheriff as head of DEA to lead US fight against fentanyl

The DEA has over 10,000 employees and an annual budget of over $3.2 billion. Chronister, a veteran sheriff with over 32 years of experience, received praise from Florida officials like Tampa Mayor Jane Castor for his appointment. Trump has identified the opioid crisis as a top priority and a national security threat, promising to fight it aggressively. With Chronister and Patel in key law enforcement roles, Trump aims to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and illegal immigration into the United States.
