Sceptres start off PWHL season with thrilling 3-1 comeback victory against Fleet

In the season opener of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, the Toronto Sceptres secured a 3-1 victory over the Boston Fleet. Hannah Miller scored the game-winning goal on a power-play with just 1:38 remaining in the game. Toronto’s Sarah Nurse and Emma Maltais also contributed with a short-handed goal and an empty-net strike, respectively. Boston’s Hilary Knight opened the scoring for the Fleet, but it was not enough to secure the win.

Notably, Toronto’s Natalie Spooner, the Billie Jean King MVP, missed the season opener due to knee surgery. Boston’s Aerin Frankel had an impressive performance in goal with 38 saves, while defender Emma Greco made her debut for the Fleet. The game was a rematch of last year’s Walter Cup final, with Toronto ultimately coming out on top once again. The Sceptres will next face Ottawa, while Boston will play its home opener against Minnesota.
