In other MLS news, Vancouver Whitecaps fired their coach Vanni Sartini after the team’s elimination from the playoffs. Sartini took over as coach in August 2021 and had a regular-season record of 44 wins, 40 losses, and 32 draws. The decision to fire Sartini was made in the hopes of making progress for the team’s future.
On a positive note, Luis Suarez has signed a one-year contract extension with Inter Miami, keeping him alongside Lionel Messi for at least one more season. Suarez had a successful first season with Inter Miami, scoring 20 goals in Major League Soccer regular season play and 25 goals across all competitions. Inter Miami had a record-breaking season, setting MLS records for points and winning percentage. Suarez’s extension keeps the Barcelona core together as Inter Miami looks to build on their success from this past season.
