Newton North High School’s boys’ soccer team defied the odds by winning the MIAA Div. 1 championship after starting the playoffs with a sub .500 record. Led by goalkeeper Gabino Talisayon, the Tigers pulled off upset wins to secure their historic victory. Oliver Ames also clinched their third straight Div. 2 title with a thrilling double-overtime win. In Div. 3, Dover-Sherborn claimed their first championship in more than a decade. Cohasset emerged victorious in a tight Div. 4 final, while Sutton won the Div. 5 title in penalty kicks.
On the girls’ side, Wellesley’s Emily Burnham led her team to victory in the Div. 1 final, while Masconomet ended a long title drought by winning the Div. 2 championship. Nipmuc secured the Div. 3 title, and Sutton won their fourth consecutive Div. 4 championship. Douglas clinched the Div. 5 girls’ soccer title with a thrilling 3-2 win over Hull. The 2024 season showcased the resilience and skill of high school soccer teams across Massachusetts.
