A federal judge in Boston sentenced Eric Labarge, a 46-year-old man from Nashua, to 46 months in prison for orchestrating a terror campaign against two New Hampshire Public Radio journalists and their families. Labarge hired co-conspirators to harass, stalk, and intimidate the journalists after they published an exposé detailing sexual misconduct allegations against his friend. The campaign included vandalism, such as spray painting expletives on doors and throwing bricks through windows. Labarge pleaded guilty to several charges, including conspiracy to commit stalking and aiding and abetting. His co-conspirators, Tucker Cockerline and Michael Waselchuck, also received prison sentences. The prosecutors emphasized the importance of protecting journalists’ rights to report without fear of retribution. Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, warned that attempts to infringe on the freedom of the press will not be tolerated. The sentencing serves as a warning to those who seek to silence the media through threats and violence.
