Canadian actor, Julien Arnold, passes away during performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’


Julien Arnold, a theater actor from Edmonton, Canada, died during a production of “A Christmas Carol” at the Citadel Theatre. He experienced a medical emergency during the play and despite resuscitation attempts, he passed away at the scene at the age of 59. Arnold played the roles of Marley and Mr. Fezziwig in the production. The theater community paid tribute to Arnold, praising his charisma and talent on stage, and stating that the remaining performances of the play would be dedicated to honoring his legacy.

Arnold was a founding member of the Free Will Players, a non-profit theater group known for their annual Shakespeare festival. He had a bachelor of fine arts and master of fine arts from the University of Alberta and had a successful career playing various roles on stage including Feste in “Twelfth Night,” the Cowardly Lion in “The Wizard of Oz,” Cogsworth in “Beauty and the Beast,” and Bottom in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Arnold’s wife and cover funeral expenses, raising over $42,000 as of Friday evening. The Edmonton theater community and fans mourn the loss of Julien Arnold, a talented and beloved actor whose presence on stage will be deeply missed.
