Syrian army forces are engaged in a battle to repel a major offensive launched by rebel groups in Aleppo city. At least four people have been killed in the clashes, with rebels using car bombs and ground attacks to target government-held areas. The Turkish state news agency reported that rebels had entered Aleppo city center after capturing nearby towns and villages in the northwest province of Aleppo. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that over 14,000 people, including many children, have been displaced by the violence.

The conflict in Syria, which began as pro-democracy protests in 2011, has evolved into a complex war involving various foreign powers supporting both sides. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Syrian government in its fight against terrorism. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has expressed Russia’s support for Syria’s government and called for a restoration of order in Aleppo.

The situation in Aleppo has escalated with intense fighting and airstrikes in rebel-held areas. Opposition groups have gained control of over 47 villages and the M5 highway, a key logistics and military route. The Syrian army has responded by repelling the offensive and retaking certain positions. Civilians in Aleppo are living in fear of further displacement due to the ongoing violence. The conflict underscores the complex nature of the Syrian civil war and the ongoing struggle for control in various regions of the country.
