The Notre-Dame Cathedral is set to reopen its doors a week after photos and videos of the reconstructed place of worship were released. The landmark closed in April 2019 after a fire caused significant damage, which was determined to be accidental and not arson. French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to rebuild the cathedral “more beautiful than ever”, with over $700 million in donations from around the world. The cathedral is known for its architectural feat, colorful glass, artworks, and important relics like the Crown of Thorns.
The Notre-Dame Cathedral will reopen on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 with an invitation-only ceremony, followed by reopening celebrations from Dec. 7 to Dec. 15. Two “Magnificat” concerts will conclude the sequence on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, with events continuing until June 8, 2025. The inside of the cathedral showcases its beauty and history, and the rebuilding efforts have been a global project to restore this iconic Parisian site.
