John Pownall, a 57-year-old man who was being held at Exeter Hospital until he was medically stable to return to jail, has escaped with 36-year-old Ashley Gustafson from Rockingham County Jail in New Hampshire. Authorities are seeking public assistance in locating the pair, who fled in a white KIA sedan with a New Hampshire license plate. Gustafson helped Pownall remove his ankle bracelet after leaving the hospital. Pownall, who was arrested for driving with a suspended license, has a history of substance abuse and driving infractions. Both individuals have active arrest warrants, and the public is advised not to approach them. Anyone with information should contact the police at (603) 679-2225.
