Dakota Ditcheva made history as the first British woman to win an MMA world title, defeating Taila Santos in the second round to claim the Professional Fighters League (PFL) flyweight title and $1m in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 26-year-old fighter from Manchester extended her undefeated streak to 14 wins, all by stoppage. Ditcheva’s dominance in the cage has made her one of PFL’s biggest female stars since joining the organization in 2022. Despite facing a tough challenge from former UFC flyweight title challenger Santos, Ditcheva proved her skill with a flurry of body shots that secured the victory. The Manchester fighter’s transition to the global stage has been seamless, with three first-round knockouts leading up to her championship win.
Celebrating her victory by putting on lipstick in the octagon, Ditcheva declared that “the world is mine” and silenced critics who doubted her abilities. With plans to bring more excitement to the sport, Ditcheva highlighted her fellow Mancunian Brendan Loughnane’s upcoming main event for the PFL featherweight title. She confidently predicted Loughnane’s success and expressed her desire to bring PFL events to Manchester in the future. Ditcheva’s performance showcased her exceptional skills and determination, solidifying her place as a rising star in MMA and a force to be reckoned with in the women’s flyweight division.
