Boston Bruins players Charlie McAvoy, Mason Lohrei, and Johnny Beecher participated in the team’s annual Thanksgiving pie donation and delivery event on Thursday. Led by McAvoy for the fourth consecutive year, the group distributed 400 Wegmans pies to various organizations including the New England Center and Home for Veterans, St. Francis House, Pine Street Inn, and The Home for Little Wanderers. They also helped serve food at the Pine Street Inn.
McAvoy expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back, stating, “I have the greatest job in the world. This tradition has become very special to me and my family. I have so much to be thankful for.”
The Thanksgiving pie donation and delivery effort was initially started by former Bruins player Aaron Ward in 2008 and has been continued by various players including Dennis Wideman, Gregory Campbell, Matt Beleskey, and Zdeno Chara. McAvoy took over the initiative from Chara in 2021, highlighting the impact his former teammate had on him. The event was a meaningful way for the players to show their appreciation and support for the community during the holiday season.
