Florida Man Arrested for Alleged Bomb Plot Against New York Stock Exchange

In a startling development, Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, a 30-year-old resident of Coral Springs, Florida, has been arrested and charged by the FBI with plotting to detonate an explosive device at the New York Stock Exchange. Authorities report that Yener aimed to "reboot" the U.S. government by inflicting mass casualties during a busy week leading to Thanksgiving.
The FBI’s investigation into Yener began in February following a tip-off regarding suspicious activities, including his storage of bomb-making plans in a storage unit. Agents discovered various components widely associated with explosives, including sketches, timer-equipped watches, and electronics suitable for constructing explosive devices. Additionally, Yener had been searching for bomb-making information online since 2017.
Court documents reveal alarming details of Yener’s intentions. He allegedly disclosed to undercover agents that he planned to detonate the bomb just before Thanksgiving, asserting that it would “wake people up.” He expressed a desire for the explosion to create a scene akin to a “small nuke,” resulting in significant casualties at the Stock Exchange.
In the weeks leading up to his arrest, Yener was reportedly modifying two-way radios to serve as remote detonators and planned to wear a disguise to execute his scheme. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, during which he was formally charged with attempting to use an explosive device to destroy a facility engaged in interstate commerce.
Yener is currently detained while awaiting trial. Efforts to reach him for comment have gone unanswered, and there is no attorney listed on record to represent him. This unsettling case underscores ongoing concerns about domestic terrorism in the U.S.
