Multiple schoolchildren have been injured following a car crash outside a school in central China’s Hunan province. The incident took place in front of Yongan Primary School in the Dingcheng District of Changde. It is still unclear whether the crash was accidental or deliberate. Several adults were also injured in the crash, and the driver of the white SUV involved was subdued by parents and security guards.
In recent years, China has seen a series of violent incidents involving individuals with personal grievances seeking revenge against society. Last week, a man killed 35 people and injured more than 40 others by ramming his car into a crowd in Zhuhai. In Wuxi, a 21-year-old student killed eight people and injured 17 others in a stabbing rampage at a vocational school after failing his exams. In Shanghai, a man stabbed three people to death and wounded 15 others over a personal financial dispute.
The recent incident in Hunan province has sparked alarm and concern over the safety of children in China. While violent crime is rare in the country, the rise in mass attacks fueled by personal grievances is becoming a troubling trend. Authorities are working to address the root causes of these incidents and prevent further tragedies from occurring.
