A Lowell woman, Deirdre Masi, was charged with multiple offenses after driving the wrong way while drunk on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire on Sunday night. New Hampshire state police saw Masi’s car traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-93 near Exit 1 in Salem around 10:45 p.m. A trooper drove alongside her on the correct side of the highway and eventually stopped her near Exit 2 using a crossover. Masi was charged with driving while intoxicated – subsequent offense, reckless conduct – deadly weapon, reckless driving, and criminal threatening. She was then taken to the Rockingham County Department of Corrections and later arraigned in Salem District Court. The incident highlights the dangers of drunk driving and the potential consequences for those who choose to drive under the influence. Authorities urge the public to always have a designated driver or use alternative transportation if they plan to consume alcohol. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Police work diligently to enforce laws against drunk driving in order to protect the community and prevent dangerous situations like the one Masi faced on Interstate 93.
