Report: Celtics and Kristaps Porzingis aiming for December comeback

The Boston Celtics are gearing up for a potential December return of Kristaps Porzingis, according to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania. Porzingis, who underwent ankle surgery following the team’s 18th title win, has been progressing well in his recovery and has even started contact drills. While there is no set timeline for his return, the Celtics are reportedly targeting December for his comeback.

Charania noted that the Celtics have the luxury of being patient with Porzingis, given their strong start to the season. Despite the value Porzingis brings with his size, post play, and 3-point shooting, the Celtics have managed to perform well without him in the lineup, boasting a 21-4 record during the 2023-24 season without the big man.

Head coach Brad Stevens expressed satisfaction with Porzingis’ progress and stated that the team is pleased with where he is in his recovery. While the Celtics have their eyes set on a December return for Porzingis, they are willing to wait and ensure he is fully ready to come back on the court.

The eventual return of Porzingis will undoubtedly boost the Celtics in multiple aspects of their game, but for now, the team seems to be handling his absence well and maintaining a strong record. Fans will have to wait and see when Porzingis makes his much-anticipated comeback to the Celtics lineup.
