Warning to UN Agency: Banning Israel will Lead to Devastating Impact on Gaza, Middle East Crisis Live

An Israeli airstrike on a residential block in Gaza killed nearly 100 people, including children, leaving rescuers in a frantic search for survivors. The strike came amidst international backlash after Israel banned the UN aid agency Unrwa, which provides crucial services to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The bombing in Gaza left nearly 100 people dead and many more missing, with the US calling it “horrifying”. Israel’s military reported killing 40 Hamas fighters and losing four soldiers in Gaza, while also facing offensives in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Hezbollah launched drones at an Israeli base, resulting in one death. This led to Israeli strikes on a van carrying munitions near Beirut, killing the driver. The Israeli military also issued an evacuation warning for the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon.

The international community has condemned Israel’s ban on Unrwa, with the UK calling for more aid to reach those in need, and the US warning Israel to address the “catastrophic humanitarian crisis” in Gaza. Norweigian authorities plan to seek clarification from the ICJ over Israel’s aid obligations.

Hezbollah appointed a new leader, Sheikh Naim Qassem, following Hassan Nasrallah’s death. Austria condemned a rocket attack on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, which it attributed to Hezbollah. Germany recalled its ambassador to Tehran over the execution of a German-Iranian dual national, and the US offered a $5m reward for information on a 1994 plane bombing in Panama linked to Hezbollah.

As the conflict continues, the international community is pushing for humanitarian aid to reach those affected by the violence and urging for diplomatic solutions to end the ongoing crisis.
