Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a rare miss when he skied a stoppage-time penalty over the bar during a King’s Cup match, resulting in his team Al Nassr’s elimination from the competition. The 1-0 loss to Al Taawoun ended Ronaldo’s hopes of winning a major trophy since joining the Saudi Pro League club almost two years ago.
Despite scoring 73 goals in 82 appearances for Al Nassr, Ronaldo’s missed penalty shocked the crowd of 14,519 at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ball hit a young fan who was filming the incident from the stands, adding to the dramatic moment.
New head coach Stefano Pioli expressed disappointment at the cup exit but remains focused on the team’s remaining chances for silverware this season. Al Nassr is currently behind Al Hilal in the league standings and is still in contention in the Asian Champions League.
While acknowledging the team’s strong performance, Pioli emphasized the need to bounce back and give their best in the upcoming competitions. Despite the setback, Ronaldo and Al Nassr are determined to make a stronger push for success in their pursuit of trophies this season.
