Leilani Simon, a Georgia woman, has been found guilty of all 19 charges against her, including malice murder and concealing the death of her 20-month-old son, Quinton. Simon reported Quinton missing from their home, but his remains were later found in a landfill. She now faces a potential sentence of life in prison without parole. The Chatham County jury found Simon guilty after a nine-day trial, during which prosecutors presented evidence of her drug use, rocky relationship with a boyfriend, and shifting stories following Quinton’s disappearance. Testimony revealed that Simon’s ex-boyfriend agreed to a wiretap and a witness refuted her whereabouts on the night of Quinton’s disappearance. Cell phone records also contradicted her story. Despite the defense’s argument that Simon’s former boyfriend had seen Quinton several times on the morning of his disappearance, the prosecution maintained that Simon intentionally killed her son. The FBI agent testified that Simon did not seem shocked when police started searching for Quinton’s remains. Simon now faces the possibility of life in prison without parole when she is sentenced.
