Worcester, Massachusetts is introducing a creative twist to Election Day stickers this year, featuring designs by local artists. The city’s “Create the Vote” campaign, a collaboration between the Cultural Development Division and Election Commission, unveiled 10 new sticker designs aimed at reimagining the traditional “I voted” stickers. These stickers, created by nine Worcester artists, showcase unique illustrations and are available in multiple languages, including English, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, and Twi.
One of the featured designs pays homage to Worcester’s iconic “Turtle Boy” statue, a local landmark that has become a symbol of the city. The stickers also include illustrations of the Worcester skyline, Massachusetts’s state dog – the Boston terrier, and other creative designs. Early voting began on October 19, and the stickers have been well-received by voters, with over 4,000 in-person early voters and nearly 15,000 mail-in voters choosing to don the new designs.
The artists behind the Turtle Boy sticker emphasized the importance of voting, with the boy and turtle in the design holding ballots to signify that every vote counts. Deputy City Clerk Clare Robbins expressed excitement over the positive reception of the stickers among Worcester voters, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm for the locally-inspired designs. With high early voting turnout indicating a potentially busy Election Day, Worcester is gearing up for a strong voter showing next Tuesday.
