Boston Celtics star, Jayson Tatum, was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after an impressive opening week of the 2024-25 NBA season. Tatum averaged 33.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in the first three games of the year, shooting over 50% from the field and nearly 50% from beyond the arc. The Celtics are 3-0 heading into a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night.
Tatum’s strong performance comes after a disappointing showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was benched at times. However, he has bounced back with a fantastic start to the NBA season, including receiving his first championship ring and delivering a touching speech at TD Garden. Tatum has also recorded two double-doubles in the first three games.
This is the 11th time Tatum has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, putting him behind only Paul Pierce and Larry Bird in Celtics history. If Tatum continues to play at this high level, he has a chance to surpass both legends in the future. Fans and analysts are excited to see what Tatum can accomplish this season as he leads the Celtics to potential playoff success.
