Trustee Joseph H. Baldiga, representing creditors of 4Run3 Racing, is seeking to reclaim $176,924 from the St. Patrick’s Parade Committee of Holyoke in a recent bankruptcy court filing. The payment made to the committee before 4Run3 closed followed persistent demands from a parade committee official. The trustee is now requesting a freeze on the committee’s accounts to prevent the money from being spent while the case is ongoing. Baldiga stated that while the parade committee did nothing wrong, it’s his responsibility to ensure all creditors receive their fair share of available funds.
The bankruptcy proceeding also revealed that 4Run3 owes various charities nearly $30,000 in race registration fees and donations. Run by husband-and-wife owners Timothy D. Murphy and Jill M. Murphy, 4Run3 closed suddenly in May, leaving multiple charities and vendors unpaid. Subsequent filings showed that 4Run3 owes over $52,000 to 16 philanthropic organizations.
Among the creditors are charities for outdoor education, animal welfare, the Junior League, Holyoke Pride, and the Knights of Columbus. The bankruptcy trustee emphasized that all creditors should receive a portion of the assets to be recovered based on the amount owed. Additionally, text messages included in the filing illustrate the tense interactions between Timothy Murphy and the director of the St. Patrick’s Parade Committee regarding unpaid race proceeds.
Attorney Gary M. Weiner, representing the Murphys, confirmed that they have left the area following the closure of the 4Run3 store in East Longmeadow. Timothy Murphy recently answered questions under oath regarding the couple’s assets, including a large RV. The bankruptcy case continues to unfold as creditors seek to recoup their losses from the defunct racing company.
