The 3rd Annual Magic for Maddie celebration at the Holyoke Elks Lodge was a fun-filled event with a serious purpose. The event aimed to raise tens of thousands of dollars to fight the brain cancer that took the life of 8-year-old Maddie Schmidt three years ago. The carnival-like atmosphere saw thousands of parents and kids enjoying midway games, bounce houses, live music, and magic shows.
Magic for Maddie initially started in 2022 to raise money for clinical trials to treat Maddie’s diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a challenging form of brain cancer. Despite her passing, the event has continued with Maddie’s family raising funds to combat childhood cancers, including diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
The event not only honored Maddie’s memory but also brought the community together to support a crucial cause. Participants had a great time while contributing to a meaningful initiative. The funds raised will go towards supporting research and treatment for childhood cancers, providing hope for families facing similar challenges.
Magic for Maddie serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of those impacted by childhood cancer. It highlights the power of community coming together to make a difference and bring about positive change. Through events like these, we can work towards a future where pediatric cancers are no longer a threat, offering hope and support to those in need.
